Åmål station was opened in 1879. The station house was from the beginning a two -storey brick building. In the 1910s and 1930s, o were renovated o modernized the statation house. The first electric train arrives at the station. SJ D 202. The locomotive was manufactured in 1933 by ASEA. Scrapped in 1979 in Vislanda.
