A black bar extends from the axil of the pectoral fin to a black blotch at the beginning of the lateral line; there is a diffuse brownish area on the upper part of the opercle; the whole upper surface of the head is covered with rounded black spots; a brown stripe extends under eye to angle of mouth; the pale yellow dorsal fin has a jet-black spot at its base anteriorly and several transverse rows of dark spots on the dorsal rays; and the greenish- yellow caudal fin has five irregular transverse rows of brown spots. The barbels are long, all reaching to or beyond the eye; the eyes, in- visible from below, are much nearer to tip of snout than to the gill opening; the anterior nostril is in a tube with a posterior flap, which nearly reaches eye; the lateral line terminated in advance of the anal fin. -ifr v%f ^ «^.
