The coronary band is, then,an important structure, being the source from whencethe wall is produced. Upon the healthy condition ofthis band depends the soundness of the wall, and anyinterference with its integrity must lead to defects or^deformities in the wall. The Sensitive Sole (Fig. 12) is that portion of the 16 THE ART OP HORSE-SHOEING. **quick to wicli the sole is attaclied. From these the horn fibres of thesole are formed, and a firm means of connection i&afforded for the floor of the Fig. 12.—Under Surfaco of Foot shovring Sensitive Elr.^ and Sole. The Sensitive Frog in structure resembles thesensitive sole, bnt its papilljs are very much smaller, andthe surface, therefore, is smoother. The irregular, pro-minent surface of the frog, with its cleft and the spaceat each side of it, is exactly reproduced on the sensitivefrog, as might be expected, for the one is moulded on theother. There is one difference between the sensitive-frog and the other jiortions of the sensitive foot whicli Imay here mention.
