PHILIPPINE SEA (Jan. 27, 2019) Machinist's Mate Fireman Joshua Epps, from Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Machinist's Mate 1st Class Sandesh Jayawardana, from Eastvale, California, ignite the No. 2 boiler in the forward main machinery room aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1). Wasp, flagship of Wasp Amphibious Ready Group, with embarked 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, is operating in the Indo-Pacific region to enhance interoperability with partners and serve as a ready-response force for any type of contingency.
