It crystallizes Oregonsconception of how its highest tribunal of justice should be housed. The architect, who created this building, was confronted with notonly a state, but a national problem. His ideas were the culminationof those necessary to convince the casual out-of-state visitor, as well asthe citizens of the commonwealth—that this edifice faithfully portrayedthe architectural ideals of Oregon. His efforts have been notably suc-cessful.
