St. Prince Dovmont (Daumantas) of Pskov (left), St. Prince Alexander Nevsky (second left), St Prince Dmitry Donskoy (second right), Lithuanian Kestutis of the Gediminids (right) and St. Prince Mikhail of Tver (down) and shown in this relief. The figures are the part of a huge bas-relief 'The Heroes of Russia' which is the work of sculptor Mikhail Mikeshin himself. The Monument to the Millennium of Russia was created by sculptor Mikhail Mikeshin in 1864 and erected in Novgorod Kremlin, on the place were according the legend the mythological Varangian prince Rurik (also known as Riurik) took the power over the Russian tribes in 864. Rurik was the first ruler of Kievan Rus and the founder of the Rurik Dynasty.
