In theCorn Belt the average value of farm buildings is $3,400 per farm, and it is almost asmuch in the Spring Wheat Area, and the southern, pnjrtion of the Hay and PastureReg^ion. In the Cotton Belt, on the other hand, the average value is only §738. owingin part to the large number of negro shanties. However, the value of the buildings onthe landlords farm in a plantation is almost as great as the values in the Corn values of farm buildings include barns and outbuildings, and since the valueof the house is, in general, about half that of all farm buildings, the average value1 farm houses in the United States is only about $900.
