Lye. ii. p. 196. is a native of North America, among the Rocky Mountains ; with purple flowers, succeeded by a very delicious fruit. It is a shrubby bramble, 5 or 6 feet high. R. tilidceus Smith in Rees's Cycl. vol. xxx. is a native of Upper Nepal, with white flowers, and leaves like those of T^lia alba. R. cordi- folius D. Carpels numerous with lateral styles, seated on a dry permanent, elevated receptacle. (Don's Mill.) Leaves compound, alternate or opposite, stipulate, siib-evergreen; pin- nately cut. Flowers white or yellow. Shrubs low, natives of Europe and America, and of easy culture in a dry soil.
