Ruins of ancient Laodicea on a hill in Turkey

This city in mentioned in the Bible book of Revelation, and was once a prominent, prosperous city. Now only a few ruins (under excavation) remain on the hill. This hill lies across the valley from the popular tourist city of Pamukkale. The surrounding valleys and gullies are fertile agricultural fields.
