PACIFIC OCEAN (May 12, 2017) Landing Craft Air Cushion 32, assigned to Assault Craft Unit 5, departs the well deck of the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) during an equipment offload. Makin Island, the flagship of the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, with the embarked 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, is returning to Southern California from a seven-month deployment to the 3rd, 5th and 7th Fleet areas of operation.
