The concluding portion of the volume consists ofnotes of events which have come within the Authorspersonal experience, at Cards or in connection withCard-players, during the last twenty years. The matters related as anecdotes have all actuallyhappened. None have been manufactured for thesake of effect. It is possible that some of the char-acters may be recognized by a hmited circle ; but theAuthor has been careful not to name names, ex-cept where the persons referred to are beyond thepale of offence or injury.
