In 1889 a peti-tion to the Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity from certain studentsof the Institute was for some reason rejected. The question ofa chapter at Tech did not again arise until 1902, whenAlfred T. Levine, of Alpha Iota, conferred with the ExecutiveBoard in Philadelphia, and communicated to it the statementthat a number of desirable students at Tech were consider-ing a petition to the Fraternity.
