An Italian belt, 4th century A bronze belt with a perforated rim retaining some tiny round-headed bronze pins for the backing material. Two stylised cicadas riveted to one end as fastening hooks, and three rows of double holes for receiving the hooks on the other end. The belt is decorated with an embossed sea monster with the body of a horse, running hounds, stags, and horses. Length 79 cm. Width cm. Reddish brown noble patina showing the metallic surface in places. The back has been stabilised in places, and it is mounted on a wooden support. Axel Gu,
