Geneva, Switzerland. 06th Dec, 2014. A new record with more than 36 000 starters was set at this year's 37th edition of the road run Course de l'Escalade, Geneva's biggest annual sporting event. The run is held each December in the narrow lanes of the old town as part of Geneva's Escalade festivities, celebrating the defeat of the surprise attack by the troops of the Duke of Savoy in 1602. The event attracts elite and recreational runners, but also a large crowd of enthusiastic youth and children.
