Cavansite and stilbite crystals. Cavansite crystals (blue) with a stilbite crystal embedded in them (translucent, white, top). Cavansite (calcium vanadium silicate), because of its rich colour and relative rarity, is a sought after collector's mineral. Stilbite (calcium aluminium silicate), a zeolite, has a micro-porous, sieve-like, crystal structure. This property means that it can be used to separate hydrocarbons in the process of petroleum refining.
