Aerial view of a stone built sheepfold or sheep stell near Dodburn, Hawick, Scottish Borders, UK. Sheep stells provided shelter during winter weather.
Sheep stell, Scottish Borders. Sheep stells provided shelter during spells of winter weather. They are especially common in the Border hills, built in drystone, with a turf cope. The bare strips of ground around the stell suggest that the cope has recently been repaired or renewed.
