Japanese whaling fleet kill Antarctic minke whales in the Southern Ocean, Antarctica
An Antarctic Minke whale lies dead and tied alongside the rail of a Japanese whale catcher ship prior to its transfer to the factory ship, Nishin Maru. The whale is one of 440 that the whalers will kill in their annual hunt. All whales are caught under the guise of scientific research. The sign is for the purposes of enviromental protest group Greenpeace campaigners in an inflatable who try to interfere with the transfer of the whale.
