The Cathedral of the Resurrection or Church on Spilled Blood was built by Tsar Alexander III on the spot where Emperor Alexander II was assassinated in March 1881. It is known by several different names including the church of the Saviour on Spilled Blood and the Khram Spasa na Krovi.
