Many apartment blocks and offices in Sofia are now being renovated often providing a stark contrast between the old and new. Many solid blocks were built in the 1950s and 1960s but have not been renovated since. Many of the renovations in Bulgaria are helped by EEC money and projects such as "Beautiful Bulgaria".
