Injury to the cord. 3. Tumors of the cord. 4. Syphilitic disease of the cord. The weakness and stiffness caused by Potts disease in the lower regionmay be simulated by lumbago, rheumatism, sciatica, and by the effect ofinjury or strain. While most cases seenby me ended fatally, several cases improved and recovered entirely. Yearsof patient treatment are necessary, and occasionally the most severe casesmay end in recovery.
