Burrage will make a display of 100 orchid plants in flower. Carnation day at Salem, Mass., May 1, brought a great demand for carna- tions and about 30,000 were sold. The majority were furnished by A. A. Pem- broke and Dolansky & McDonald. Remarkably fine sweet peas in large quantities are coming in from D. F. Hutchinson & Sons, of Lexington, and Merle W. Farr, of the West Street Greenhouses, Reading. John W. Foote, of Reading, is start- ing to send in a spring crop of colored bouvardias, which are in demand for bouquet work. He has had an excellent carnation season, growing chiefly Pink Delight, Matchless, Beacon and Benora. Peter Fisher has had a flood of or- ders for his new scarlet carnation, Ethel Fisher, formerly known as Red Cross, and still has many unfilled or- ders. Anything Mr. Fisher puts on the market is always eagerly bought.
