Nuclear power station construction. Worker inside a pressurizer being built for a nuclear power plant. Automated equipment (left) is being used to coat the inside surface with stainless steel. The worker is making a visual check. A pressurizer is a structure used in a pressurized water reactor (PWR) to maintain the pressure of water in the primary water circuit. This water circulates from the nuclear reactor (where it is heated) to a set of steam generators (where the heat is used to boil water in a secondary circuit). The water in the primary circuit is pressurized to prevent it boiling. Photographed at the Framatome ANP facility at Chalon/Saint Marcel, France.
