Sunny view Palace Culture Science Observation Deck, south across Plac Defilad to Jerusalem Avenue, Emilii Plater Street, Warsaw

The Palace of Culture and Science (Palac Kultury i Nauki, abbreviated PKiN), including a 43 m high spire, is the tallest building in Poland and, at 231 m (758 ft), the eighth tallest building in the EU. Built 1952-1955, it was conceived as 'gift from the Soviet people to the Polish nation'. It is a mix of Stalinist architecture, Polish architectural elements and inspirations from American art deco skyscrapers. The Observation Terrace on the 30th floor, at a height of 114 m, gives excellent panoramic views of the city, here looking across Parade Square (Plac Defilad) towards aleje Jerozolimskie (Jerusalem Avenue) at the south end of the square. The square dates to the 1950s. Emilii Plater Street intersects Jerusalem Avenue right background.
