The opening of The Great Exhibition of 1851 by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, Crystal Palace, London, UK. The Great Exhibition of the Works of Industry of all Nations (to give it its full title), was an international exhibition that took place in Hyde Park from 1st May to 11th October 1851. It was the first in a series of World's Fair exhibitions that became popular in the 19th century. It was visited by 6 million people, equivalent to a third of the population of Britain at the time.
