Near the small town Weiler, a suburb of Sinsheim, is the Steinsberg Castle. The castle is named as the hill it was built at: Steinsberg, an extinct volcano. In the year 1109 it was mentioned first. During the Peasant’s revolt it was burnt down. The peasants had then to pay 5000 Gulden for the rebuilding of the castle. Since 1973 it has been owned by Sinsheim. They restored large parts of the castle. The 30m high tower, the keep and the moat are open for the public.
