The total strength of the expedition at this time consisted of Dillon, Murphy, and myself, Issa (our store-keeper), thirty-five askari (including Bombay, who was supposed to command them), one hundred and ninety-two pagazi, six servants, cooks, and gun-bearers, and three boys.
