Fishing boat between Agios Efstratios ("Ai Stratis") island (right) & Agioi Apostoloi islet (left), before sunrise. North Aegean, Greece. Agios Efstratios is one of the smallest inhabited Greek islands with around 200 permanent inhabitants. Agios Efstratios was used as a place of exile between 1929-1944 and 1947-1964. Between 1947-1964 around 7000 political prisoners (among them important writers, poets, actors, politicians) remained for long periods of their lives in this beautiful island of the Aegean.
