Initially constructed of cast iron screw piers, cast iron supports and wooden deck it was begun by Mayohs Brothers in 1894.[3] The pier successfully opened in 1895, 750 feet (230 m) long.[4] The 1929 designed art deco Pier Pavilion, opened in 1930.
