Entropy shown by broken cup. Entropy is a measure of the amount of order or disorder in a system, as well as how reversible a change is. It leads to a change from order (the unbroken cup) to disorder (the broken cup), which can be represented, using the principles of thermodynamics, as an increase in entropy. Entropy is also referred to as the arrow of time, as it is possible to tell the order in which events like this usually take place.
