Risso's dolphin (Grampus griseus). This dolphin is named after the Italian–French naturalist Antoine Risso (1777-1845), whose description of it was used by Cuvier in 1812. It has characteristic markings, a pale colour, and a vertical notch on its forehead (seen here). It is found worldwide and can reach 3 metres in length, feeding mainly on squid. Photographed off the Azores, a group of islands in the northern Atlantic Ocean.
