The Hokuetsu (北越) is a limited express train service in Japan operated by East Japan Railway Company (JR East), which runs between Kanazawa and Niigata. It was first intro ducted in 1970 as a limited express service running between Osaka and Niigata. The route was later shortened to Kanazawa and Niigata in 1978.
