If you have no regard for the condi- tion of your bank account, or if you feel as though your greenhouse will not need coal next winter, you will procrastinate in the matter of your coal buying; but, if you are a long-headed florist and ,want to operate your establishment as eco- nomically as possible and avoid the risk of having your stock freeze when Jack Frost begins his work in earnest, you will buy your coal now—and the word "now" should be capitalized. The foregoing paragraph is the con- sensus of the best informed coal men, government experts and economists. Without any intention of being alarm- ists, apparently, these authorities declare that the prospects for a shortage of coal next winter are nearly a certainty. Some even go so far as to say that there will be a famine and that coal at times will be unobtainable at any price. All agree that the price will be high—much high- er than at present. Dealers Advertising. Coal dealers in many cities are having published cooperative advertisements calling the attention of the public to the need of early purchasing of coal. There are a number of reasons for the prospective shortage and possible fam- ine.
