ROYAL AIR FORCE: OPERATIONS BY THE PHOTOGRAPHIC RECONNAISSANCE UNITS, 1939-1945. - Vertical photographic-reconnaissance aerial taken during the first successful photographic-reconnaissance mission undertaken by a Supermarine Spitfire of the "Special Survey Flight". This was the first exposure made at 33,000 feet, using a Type aerial camera with a 5-inch lens. The area covered shows villages in the Verviers district of Liege Province, Belgium, centered on the small town of Bullingen.
