Robert Pershing Wadlow (1918-1940), known as the Gentle Giant, the Alton Giant and the Giant of Illinois. He is widely recognised as the tallest verified person in recorded history ( m) . This 1930's picture shows him as a schoolboy with two other school children who are believed to be his brother and sister. Wadlow belonged to the Order of DeMolay,and later became a Master Mason.
