The newly-formed Southport Business Improvement District is organising the festive event, which takes place on a Saturday rather than Sunday, when previous switch ons took place. The BID has made a significant investment in new festive LED lights around trees along Lord Street. When the switch on takes place at , it will turn Lord Street into "a boulevard of light" with half a million lights creating a sparkling way to officially start this year's Christmas shopping season in Southport.
