THE SPEINGFIELD AND NORTHWESTERNRAILROAD COMPANY Was incorporated in 1869. It is toconnect Springfield and Rock Island, bythe way of Galesburg. Sept. 15, 1870,fifty miles—from Springfield to Lewis-ton—was put under contract, to be gra-ded, ironed and furnished with rollingstock. It will be completed from Hava-na to Petersburg by the 1st of July, andfrom Petersburg to Springfield by theclose of 1871.
