The Appeal was kick-started by the Community Foundation with a £50,000 donation from its own funds. Within 24 hours it had raised £100,000. Since then donations have been received from members of the public, local businesses, philanthropists and charitable trusts and funders. Support is available to anyone who has suffered financial hardship as a result of the flooding. The money will also help with wider community relief and rebuilding projects The Appeal has already supported thousands of people through small and large grants to assist with repairs, loss of income, replacing goods, and rebuilding communities. However, many people are still not back in their homes and new and emerging needs are being identified as people work to rebuild homes and community facilities. Thanks to Government match funding, the Foundation will be able to invest in future community resilience measures to help make people’s homes more flood resilient.
