In the Gangesvalley they still form aconsiderable proportionof the cultivators of thesoil, but are very littledistinguishable physic-ally from the modern Rajput isquite as strict a Hindu,and even more preju-diced, than many Brah-mans ; and many of themtook a violent part inthe rebelhon of the humbler Raj-puts have a fine, digni-fied look, and theirwomen are very hand-some.
