Much is said at the present time in favor of popu- lar names, and to tlie detriment of scientific names as heing incom})rehensible. AVhy, then, do we commonly say geranium, oxalis, anemone, camellia, lycopo- dium, clematis, etc., etc. ?—for these are each and all purely scientific names which have been adopted as the common names, because the l)est.
