Eur. p. 100(1857) ./ Proboscis fully developed ; palpi obliquely upturned, the 2nd joint fringed with hair in front and behind, the 3rd short, porrect; frons smooth; eyes rather small and reniform ; antennas of male minutely serrate and fascicidate ; thorax clothed with hair and hair-like scales; pectus clothed with long hair ; abdomen with dorsal crests on basal segments and lateral fringes of hair. Pore wing rather short and broad, the termen crenulate ; veins 3 and 5 from near angle of cell; P from upper angle ; 9 from 10 anastomosing with 8 to form the areole ; 11 from cell. Hind wing with veins 3, 4 from angle of cell; 5 obsoles- cent from middle of diseocellulars ; 6, 7 from upper angle or shortly stalked ; 8 anastomosing with the cell near base only. 2470.
