The Arabian buildings of Cairo afford so few examplesof the use of faience of this character which is also of nativemanufacture, that it will be useful to mention one instance,which is at least authentic. This instance is the minaret ofthe mosque of Kalaun, in the Citadel, where a few of theporcelain tiles employed in the decoration of the exterior arestill left 1
