It is always interesting as well as inrportant inconsidering the life of any man, to refer briefly tohis ancestral history-, and consider the environmenlswhich have surrounded him from joutli. On hisfathers side, Mr. Bushnell is the grandson of Jo-siah Bushnell, a native of Connecticut, and a cattledealer on an extensive scale. Years ago he cameinto this State, purchasing cattle and driving themto Albany, N. Y. Ho died in Ann Arbor, thisState. His wife, Sarali Bushnell, passed away inGenesee County, N. Y., at the age of threescoreand ten jears. The maternal grandfather of our subject is Wil-lard Reed, a native of New York, and at present aresident of this township.
