This image may not be used to state or imply ESA endorsement of any company or product Rosetta spacecraft. Artwork of the Rosetta spacecraft close to the nucleus of the comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. The aim of the mission is to study the nucleus as its activity increases as it gets closer to the Sun. Rosetta will release the Philae lander onto the nucleus when it arrives. Comets are huge balls of dust and ice that are thought to be remnants from the formation of the solar system some billion years ago.
