Carer training young barnacle geese (Branta leucopsis) to fly over the sea. She is using a goose honker to guide and encourage them. These geese have imprinted onto her as their substitute mother, so she must aid their transition back into the wild. Barnacle geese are normally found in coastal marshland in Greenland and the Arctic. In the winter, they migrate southwards to spend the season in northern Europe. Photographed near Brittany, France, in January.
