I intended to finish this letter while in Bombay andsend it by the first home mail but the days were tooshort for all that I had to do. I was there five daysstaying with one of our missionaries. There weremeetings every morning and calls during the day, andtwo days I had to go to the custom-house as my lug-gage was not all brought off the steamer at once. Wearrived in Bombay on the 6th of November, justthirty-nine days after leaving New York, but fourdays and a half of that time were spent in the eleventh I started for Cawnpore alone, arriv-ing there on the afternoon of the thirteenth. and Mr. Messm
