Specific Characters.—Above, olive grey; primaries and tail quillsbrown, bordered with olive grey; below, lore, neck, sides, andsuperciliary ridge yellow. Wings in repose reach to middle oftail; first primary rather longer than the fourth, and nearly equalto (but still longer than) the third, the second longest. Dimensions.—Mean of fifteen individuals measured by M. , reduced to English measurements:—Total length, from tipof beak to end of tail, inches; from carpus to tip one inch; beak from point to origin inches; maximumdepth (hauteur) of beak, inches; maximum breadth of same, inches. This bird was first described as a new species byVieillot, in 1817, for some time after whicli it seemsto have undergone, in scientific works, many vicissitudes,—the usual fate of those subjects in natural
