Jon Bailey at 48 years old and his 21 year old son Trevor, both found themselves 18 months ago unemployed and without jobs, as a boy he had been a fisherman at Dungeness, so they started their own business crab fishing. They managed to purchase a small inshore boat from Portsmouth that came with an inshore fishing license. Although the boat has been very unsuitable as it was not built for the swell of the Channel seas and getting it up and down the steep drop of the shingle beach at Dungeness. Even so they are both optimistic for their new business and are going to rent a more suitable locally built boat to make their job less difficult. DAVID MANSELL
