Vietnam: Hydrofoil Ferry Station, Vung Tau, Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province. The resort town of Vung Tau, known in French colonial times as Cap St Jacques, lies at the tip of a triangular peninsula jutting into the sea near the mouth of the Saigon River. During the 14th and 15th centuries, the cape that would become Vũng Tàu was a swamp which European trading ships visited regularly.
