Cliristmas business was unusually heavy, especially in plants. Most of the trade filled their stores completely with plants, due to the shortage of cut flow- ers and the high prices on them. There was a good supply of poinset- tias, cyclamens, primulas and Cleveland cherries in the market to take care of all demand. All stock was cleaned up in good shape. The weather throughout Decem- ber was particularly bad for the supply of cut flowers. There was little sun- shine during the last three weeks and the weather was unusually dark. This caused a light cut of roses and prac- tically put out of the market sweet peas and violets, of which there is generally a good supply here for Christmas.
