In state affairs she had 38 ANNE little influence, but she was the warm patron of Raleigh andfurthered his liberation from the Tower; she was hostile to the Earl ofSomerset, and favoured the advancement of George Yilliers : she didnot approve of the marriage of her daughter to the Elector Palatine,and she certainly seems to have wished for a Spanish or at leasta Catholic marriage for one of her sons.
